Bioinformatics Infrastructure at the Gen*NY*sis Cancer Center

IT support for all of the following servers has been provided by the Research IT group at the University at Albany. The following resources are dedicated to the bioinformatics needs of Gen*NY*sis faculty:


Genesis Compute Server (32-CPU)
  • 'Genesis' Compute Server: This cluster consists of a Dual Intel Xeon CPU Headnode at 3.6GHz/2MB Cache, 4 GB RAM and 16 compute nodes each with Dual Xeon CPUs at 3.4GHz/2MB Cache and 4 GB RAM running under Fedora Core3 OS.
  • 'Interactome' Development Server: This server consists of four Quad core processors (4X4 CPU), each with X7350 Xeon cpu at 2.93 Ghz, 8M Cache 130W, 1066Mz FSB and with a combined RAM of 64 GB running under Fedora Core3 OS.
  • 'Chiron' Development Server: Dell PowerEdge 6850 server at 3.66GHz/1MB Cache Xeon Quad Processor (4-CPU) with 16 GB of RAM and 300 GB disk space running under SuSE Linux.
  • 'Genome' Development Server: Same as 'Chiron'
  • 'Pathway' Development Server: Dell PowerEdge1850 with Dual Intel Xeon processor at 3.0 GHz, 250 GB of disk space and 8 GB of RAM running under SuSE Linux OS.
  • 'lcg' Development Server: Same as 'Pathway'.
  • 'Proteome' Web Server: Dell PowerEdge1850 with Dual Intel Xeon processor at 3.0 GHz, 250 GB of disk space and 4 GB of RAM running under SuSE Linux OS.
  • Dell 1850 Web Server: Same as 'Proteome'.


Shared compute resources at University at Albany

  • 'Halhead' Compute Server: IBM p655 high-performance computing cluster consists of a 4-processor head node and eight 8-processor compute nodes (64-CPU), each with 16Gb of RAM. The cluster is run under the 64-bit SuSE Linux OS.
  • 'Prometheus Compute Server: The Dell Xeon cluster has dual Xeon head node with 3.2GHz/1Mb Cache and 4 Gb RAM with 8 compute nodes each with dual Xeon 3.2GHz processors with 4 GB RAM running Fedora Core 3 OS.
  • Disk Storage Capacity: Disk storage capacity of 2TB from the University's SAN, 5 TB of RAID storage and 800 GB of node based storage mounted on network file system with backup capabilities are available.
